About us
Advice from people who actually run a rehab — not a call centre.
Addiction Health Service was founded by the team behind The Recovery Lodge, a small residential clinic in Kent. We built AHS because families kept telling us the same thing: when you search for help, you can’t tell who’s giving real advice and who’s selling leads.
Who we help
Anyone affected by addiction, and anyone worried about someone who is. That includes people who’ve been drinking too much for years and people who’ve realised it in the last fortnight; partners, parents and adult children; people with money for private treatment and people with none. We don’t screen for who’s worth talking to, because the free call costs us little and the wrong assumption costs someone a great deal.
If you’re not sure whether what you’re dealing with counts as addiction, that’s a normal place to start from — the signs are here, and a phone call will get you further than a search engine.
Our promise
Four things we hold ourselves to on every call.
We’ll explain every option
Private clinics, NHS and community services, free support groups — including the ones that pay us nothing.
We’ll tell you what it costs
Before you commit to anything, and in writing if you want it.
We’ll say when you don’t need us
If we think residential treatment isn’t right for you, we’ll say so — and point you where it is.
We won’t promise an outcome
Recovery is hard work and no one can guarantee it. Anyone who does is selling something.
- Full transparency
How we’re funded
Speaking to us is free and commits you to nothing. If you choose a private clinic, we may receive a referral fee from that clinic. It never changes the price you pay, and it never changes what we recommend — which is why the free NHS route is on every page of this site, in as much detail as the paid one.
Who you’ll speak to
Real people, named, with real experience of treatment — not a rotating call-centre floor.

Questions people ask us
Three of these six are identical on every page. The other three are written for the county or the topic.
Is your advice really free?
Yes. Speaking to us costs nothing and commits you to nothing. If you choose a private clinic we may receive a referral fee from that clinic — it never changes the price you pay, and it never changes what we recommend. If the NHS route is right for you, we’ll tell you so, free, and help you take it.
Who is behind Addiction Health Service?
AHS was founded by the team behind The Recovery Lodge, a small CQC-registered residential rehab clinic in Kent. We built AHS because families told us they couldn’t tell honest advice from lead-selling. Our answer is to show you every option — including the ones that don’t pay us anything.
How quickly can someone get into rehab?
Private residential admission can usually be arranged within 24–48 hours, sometimes same-day. NHS community treatment starts with an assessment — typically within around three weeks of referral — with residential placements taking longer and requiring a funding application. If the situation is urgent, call us and we’ll talk through the fastest safe route.
